Success in Project Management, whichever field you work in, is down to the communication you use and the communication of your peers. Patterns of communication are largely unconscious and create our success or not success.

Wherever you work, no matter what you’re doing, everything always depends upon communication. Lord! How many generalisations have I managed to fit into that first sentence!

We do like to think that we understand what is going on. My view and understanding of what is said is always accurate. Why other people get mixed messages is a mystery to me, I always use clear precise language when I communicate. Surely, thats the best way, isn’t it?

What I don’t get is when people miss the point or tell me they don’t get it or someone is not happy. I mean I get it so why others don’t is not really my issue. If they don’t get it they need to listen better.

Communication is the key to successful project management and the above paragraphs are full of Generalisations, Distortions and Deletions.
